چکیده

Background Cardiac involvement in systemic light-chain (AL) amyloidosis is caused by the extracellular deposition of misfolded AL immunoglobulin and carries a poor prognosis. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping and extracellular volume (ECV) measurements may have advantages over late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) for early diagnosis and quantifying of amyloid burden. The aim of this study was to explore the diagnostic value of ECV for cardiac amyloidosis and compared ECV values calculated by postcontrast T1 mapping got in different delay time.

Novel quantification of extracellular expansion by cardiac magnetic resonance is a robust marker in diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis

Background Precise quantification of myocardial amyloid burden may improve the diagnosis and monitoring of cardiac amyloidosis (CA). While late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) imaging by MRI demonstrates a characteristic pattern of infiltration, it does not quantify the extent of myocardial extracellular matrix expansion which occurs in CA. We tested the hypothesis that a direct measure of myocard...

Estimation of cardiac amyloid infiltration with myocardial T1 mapping correlates with severity of cardiac involvement

Background Post-contrast myocardial T1-mapping with cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) has shown usefulness in the diagnosis of cardiac amyloid. A lower value indicates increase in extracellular volume and thereby amyloid deposition. The aim of this study is to assess the association between the amount of amyloid deposition as estimated by the degree of post-contrast myocardial T1 reduction and t...

Extracellular matrix expansion by cardiac magnetic resonance T1 mapping- validation with myocardial biopsy

Background Accumulation of diffuse myocardial fibrosis / extracellular volume (ECV) in the myocardium is common to various cardiac diseases and is associated with an unfavorable prognosis. Various cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping techniques have recently been proposed for the quantification of ECV, including: 1. Modified Look-Locker Inversion recovery (MOLLI) T1 mapping including cal...

Clinical recommendations for cardiovascular magnetic resonance mapping of T1, T2, T2* and extracellular volume: A consensus statement by the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) endorsed by the European Association for Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI)

Parametric mapping techniques provide a non-invasive tool for quantifying tissue alterations in myocardial disease in those eligible for cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). Parametric mapping with CMR now permits the routine spatial visualization and quantification of changes in myocardial composition based on changes in T1, T2, and T2*(star) relaxation times and extracellular volume (ECV)...

Cardiac extracellular volume quantified with T1 mapping techniques reflects degree of cardiac and neurological involvement in Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis

Background Amyloidotic cardiomyopathy (AC) in Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis (ATTR) determines prognosis and treatment options. Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) has shown its utility in the diagnosis and characterization of AC. Moreover, CMR T1 mapping techniques are useful to assess myocardial extracellular volume (ECV) fraction in AC. We hypothesized that ECV allows identification of AC...
